Hi friends!

On Saturday, April 26th, I will be running in the Daniela Conte Foundation's 5th Annual Butterfly 5K to support the fight against childhood cancer. I proudly serve on the Board of Directors and take part in planning this event— our largest event of the year!

As our nonprofit continues to grow, more families are reaching out to us for financial and memorial assistance. While we’ve always been able to help, rising requests mean we may one day face the heartbreaking reality of having to say no. A day we hope never comes.

Our Financial & Memorial Assistance Programs help families pay for:
- Rent or mortgage
- Car payments, gas, or other treatment travel expenses
- Utility bills
- Medical expenses not covered by insurance
- Groceries or food gift cards
- Memorial assistance for families who have lost their child

A childhood cancer diagnosis turns a family's world upside down. Often, one parent has to leave their job to become a full-time caregiver, putting an immense financial strain on the household. No parent should have to choose between putting food on the table and their child’s treatment—or worry about funeral costs while grieving.

Please consider donating, volunteering, running (there’s also a virtual option!), joining my team, or simply sharing this page. Every dollar makes a real difference. And unlike many nonprofits, we are 100% volunteer-run, meaning every dollar donated directly supports local NYC and Long Island families.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past five years. Your generosity changes lives, and I’m forever grateful. Together, we can help make the lives of patients and their families a little less stressful and a little more cheerful, and work towards finishing Daniela's fight.

Love,
Amanda

🦋 My Story 🦋
I first met the Conte Family back in summer of 2017 as Gemma (Daniela's younger sister)'s counselor at Sunrise Day Camp, the world's only day camp for kids with cancer and their siblings- free of charge. That summer was life-changing, so I spent 3 more summers after that at Sunrise (including an amazing virtual version of camp we put together during 2020!). Over those years I have gotten to know Daniela, Gemma, their younger twin brothers Anthony and Matthew, as well as their parents Katia and Anthony, very closely. It has been so amazing to watch them grow every year and beat every obstacle that is thrown at them. They are all my heroes.

It breaks my heart to say that on March 2nd, 2020, at just 8 years old, Daniela passed away peacefully in her sleep. Daniela was a warrior - beating Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma three times before it returned for a fourth time. She was a very smart and vibrant little girl who inspired so many people around her. She has taught me what it means to be brave, how to be strong, and to always smile and spread happiness. I am so incredibly thankful to have gotten to know Daniela and spent so much time with her. She is forever in my heart.

💜 About DCF 💜
We are approaching 5 years since we began the Daniela Conte Foundation. In this short time, we have provided over $250,000 in financial support to over 500 local pediatric cancer families, donated $30,000 to a Sarcoma Research Project at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and sent hundreds of Daniela's Butterfly Boxes to children undergoing treatment and their siblings around the country. We continue to be dedicated to raising money for more promising and less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer and to providing financial support to more and more families.
